MAIL
Incoming U.S. Mail
All U.S. Mail addressed to Western Michigan University, except Parcel Post and mail that is addressed
to Residence Halls and WMU Campus Apartments is delivered to the
WMU Mailing Services. Mail and packages for Residence Halls and Campus
Apartments mail (such as Oakland Apartments, Howard Apartments, 100 Western Ave) are delivered directly by the U.S. Postal Service. Students
MUST include their resident campus address to be deliverable. Mail
received for students in care of Western Michigan University, 1903 W Michigan Ave and not the actual residence hall/address may
be returned to sender. Student mail addressed to a specific department
will be delivered to that department.
Incoming Mail arrives and is sorted in the morning between 7:45 and 9:00am by Mail Stop first and the corresponding Department. It
is very important that your mail is delivered correctly to the department
location and mail stop where you are located. Ensure that you keep
Human Resources, as well as those who correspond with you, updated. Should
you change departments and mail stops you MUST CONTACT Human Resources
at 387-3622. We will temporarily forward your mail for 30
days to your new location to allow you sufficient time to update
Human Resources and all those who correspond with you.
Express, Certified, Insured Mail, and Parcel Post is delivered by
WMU Freight & Delivery Services on the day received along with
other materials from University Receiving.
All Priority mail pieces received in the morning from the U.S. Post
Office are delivered the same day it is received in the University Mail Center.
Correspondents should be strongly encouraged to address mail to an
individual using the department name just above the street address
and the individual's name above the department shown in the
example below. The correct Mail Stop Code MUST be used for all WMU departments. A correct and complete address
will speed delivery of your incoming mail. A complete list of WMU

Any mail received from our WMU Departments before 3:00 p.m. is processed the same day.
If you have
a critical mailing deadline to meet please call us in advance
and follow with a note attached to your mailing so that necessary
adjustments in our schedule can be made to better serve you.
Large outgoing mailings will be picked-up by special arrangement.
When your department has such mailings contact Freight and Delivery
Services at 387-8811 or 387-8819. If
you cannot get an immediate response contact the Mail Services
Supervisor at 387-8812.
Outgoing mail, including intra-campus, is delivered and collected
once each working day. An additional collection is made daily at
2:00pm at Walwood, 2:30 p.m. from the lobby of Ellsworth Hall,
and at 2:45
p.m. for the Seibert Administration Building. Mail pickup and
delivery at the Parkview Campus is at 11:00am daily.
